A TRIBUTARY INFOGRAPHIC - PRINT
A0 Size Poster
_____
A tributary poster that highlights Paul Mijksenaar's contribution to the field of graphic and information design. At a visceral level, through the use of a metaphor, I convey his work as a 'way finding' specialist.

RESEARCH AND VISUAL INSPIRATION
Paul Mijksenaar is a designer of visual information, visual information systems and a wayfinding specialist. He trained as an industrial designer and later transformed into an information designer. He has worked across multiple fields like healthcare, transport, airports, museums, digital and leisure. His work simplifies the complex, information systems are usable by anyone at anytime, the way finding experience is reliable from beginning to end, it is visible and legible and it attracts focus and attention of the users.
DATA COLLECTION AND IDEATION
The narrative
The focus of the infographic highlights his contribution to information design, the projects he worked on, his career path, awards he received and awards named after him, books he's written, his life philosophy and his learnings and failures as a designer.
I used a dynamic line portrait illustration to convey his identity at first glance on a visceral level.  Using the 'LATCH' method (Location, Alphabet, Time, Category, Hierarchy), the data was sorted according to time and highlighted one essential design contribution each year. I used icons to encode and highlight information that makes pattern-finding easier visually.

The poster also highlights the people he met and worked with who majorly influenced his career and the design skills he practiced over time in his industrial designer journey to an information designer.
DESIGN ITERATIONS
The making process
The use of bold colour, contrast in the heading and body text, lines/tracks with rectilinear ends best reflect his style of work. The typeface was chosen for readability and visibility across all sizes in print and versatility of the typeface to adapt to a digital version of the infographic.
